It’s always great to get listed on a bookseller’s must-read list, but even better when you’re scheduled to appear in one of their stores! Barnes and Noble has added WARHEAD to its “Best YAs for July” list (yeah!) and I’ll be appearing with a group of authors, agents, and creative writing professor Sue Shapiro at a Barnes and Noble in Los Angeles on August 12. Check out WARHEAD on Barnes and Noble and, if you live in LA, come to the August 12th event.

Here’s what Barnes and Noble’s Teen Blog had to say about WARHEAD:

Set in the mid-1980s, at the height of the Cold War, this debut memoir reveals how Jeff, a 15-year-old newly diagnosed with brain cancer, used his Starlight Foundation wish to visit Moscow. His goal? Meet Mikhail Gorbachev and plan a course for nuclear disarmament. Bonus points if he can leave behind a legacy for his tough-to-please dad to admire. Within this extraordinary framework, Jeff is also a regular teen whose growing pains and coming of age journey feel relatable and important.
