Planning the launch on Orcas Island

IMG_4860 (1).jpg

I was recently up on Orcas Island, hanging out with my dear mom to celebrate Mother’s Day, and meeting with some wonderful friends and allies in the writing world who helped (and helped and helped) plan the launch of Warhead—which will take place on July 2, 2019.

Choosing Orcas was easy. My parents retired there in the mid-1990s and I’ve been visiting regularly ever since, first from New York, where I’d been living until recently, and now from Seattle, which is much, much closer. My father passed away in 2014, but my mom is still on Orcas. I wanted to celebrate the launch of my first book with her, so it really was a simple choice.

Where on Orcas—for the launch—was also easy. There’s just one bookstore, Darvill’s, an absolutely lovely spot with a great cafe and a stunning view of the water. Darvill’s attracts local readers, tourists, and authors from across the country. The owner, Jenny, is a family friend, and I’m grateful to her that she’s offered to host the event. Ayn Gailey (author of Pornology) will moderate the Q&A. She happens to be the partner of the gentleman in the photo above, author and screenwriter Sam Gailey (Deep Winter, The Guilt We Carry), in addition to my website designer, photographer, social media consultant, and advisor on all things book-related. Thanks, Ayn!

Take a look at the pictures below. I hope you enjoy them. And if you happen to be on Orcas on July 2nd, stop by Darvill’s at 6pm for the launch. Say hello. There will be much to celebrate.
